BENGHAZI, (AA): A car-bomb explosion killed three people, including a
political activist, and injured 21 others in Libya’s eastern city of
Benghazi late Saturday, according to Libyan medics.
Among those killed in the attack in the city’s central Keesh district
was activist Mohamed Buqaiqis, who headed an anti-corruption body.
Khalil Quwedar, a spokesman for the Benghazi hospital, said Buqaiqis –
along with 17 injured people – was admitted to the hospital following
the attack.
The bodies of two civilians and four injured people were transferred
to Al-Galaa hospital, according to spokesperson Fadia al-Barghuthi.
No group has claimed responsibility for the bombing.
Libya has remained in a state of turmoil since 2011, when a bloody
uprising ended with the ouster and death of longtime strongman Muammar
Gaddafi.
